Dealing With A Clogged Drain
A clogged drain is the one thing that can ruin a person’s day faster than anything else. Nothing is more annoying or messy to deal with than a clogged drain and not everyone has the time or the desire to deal with them. When that happens, it is time to call in the professionals at Liberty Plumbing.
Sink Drains
Whether it is a residence or a business, clogged or blocked drains can be a frustrating and unneeded obstacle during your day. We can help you restore things back to normal and in a very short period of time.
Typically, the plunger is the first step that most people will try, followed by the use of a popular drain cleaner that may or may not take care of the problem. Our plumber, on the other hand, has a wider range of tools at his disposal to get that sink operating as it should.
The plumber will first assess the severity of the clog and will then use a drain snake to attempt to remove it and get the water flowing through once more. If that does not work, the next step is usually to check the drain trap, accessible from underneath the sink. The plumber will then remove the drain trap from the pipe and examine it. If this turns out to be the problem, it will be cleared and reinstalled.
If the problem extends beyond the drain trap, the blockage may lie within the pipes beyond the drain trap. A different kind of drain snake, a K60, which is a big machine that drives the snake, is run through the lines behind the drain trap in an attempt to unclog the drain in this manner. In extreme cases, our plumber will employ a machine called a jetter, which uses pressure to blow the pipe lines clear.
Bathtub and Shower Drains
These can be the most difficult types of drains to unclog. Most bathtubs and showers have a trap located underneath them that can become seriously clogged with hair and soap. Removing can be tricky, as most of them are located beneath floors or only accessible from difficult areas that the average homeowner or renter will not have access to. In the Lakeland area most of our homes are on a slab making the trap totally inaccessible to the home owner. However, an experienced professional plumber will know exactly how to quickly clear the drain trap.
They will remove the drain trap and clear it of any debris and then check the piping beyond it. If those pipes are blocked, the snake or jetter will then be employed to remove the blockage. Afterwards, the drain trap is fitted with new seals and replaced. Problem solved.
